The Product: Large black table lampshade with colourful embroidered detail

A large black table lampshade with rainbow-coloured flèche detailing in vertical stripes makes a striking addition to any eclectic room scheme. The embroidered cotton fabric was sourced from textile markets in Southeast Asia. It feels decidedly modern, transformed into a smart, drum lampshade, yet speaks of the regional decorative textile heritage.

The Lowdown

Drum lampshades such as these provide a gentle, pool of atmospheric light directed up and down, as opposed to a directional task light. They are simply lined with white, fire-retardant PVC. Use low-energy bulbs to reduce heat generation (40-watt max).

How To Style Your Black Table Lampshade?

We styled this lampshade here with a simple, elegant, turned-wood lamp base from the fab lighting brand Pooky Lights. Why not team the smart black lampshade with another to flank a sofa as a pair? Alternatively, use a single shade to add decorative impact in the corner of your bedroom or sitting room. Or, stand proudly on a hall console to welcome guests. Decorative shades provide a talking point and add colour and culture – with their typically Southeast Asian pattern design. These shades are quite large (see below). We also styled them with simple but suitably tall, modern, white metal bases (scroll the images) but they’d also look great on wider, more traditional, urn-shaped, ceramic bases.

The Detail

The black lampshade measures 40cm in diameter x 30cm in height (as shown here). All lampshades are handmade to order although we often have new lampshades in stock for immediate despatch. Please note these lampshades showcase locally sourced, South East Asian textiles and as such, there may be slight imperfections in the pattern/weave. This is all part of their eclectic appeal.
