Here at Telescope Style, we are rather fond of unique framed wall art. Especially when it features age-old skills handed down through generations and showcased in a contemporary way. This lace rose is a case in point, having originated from the small Slovenian town of Idrija – a region famed for its bobbin lace-making tradition. We visited the town and met the maker. We also visited the most awe-inspiring lace museum with intricate designs in lace made by schoolchildren as well as masters of the art.
We decided to frame the lace roses we sourced against a subtly colourful, woven, Thai-silk textile. The delicate patterning somehow just works as a backdrop to the lace rose. We hope you love the culture clash as much as we do.
This conversation-starting piece more than hold its own as standalone artwork. However, we think the rose would also work well as part of a gallery wall display, grouped with a variety of different and contrasting styles of art.
